Manager – Software Engineering (Richardson, TX)

Prodea provides carrier-grade IoT services being deployed by government agencies, healthcare providers, telcos and utilities around the world. Since 2006, Prodea has distinguished itself by developing the first framework for deploying end-to-end managed IoT services and creating a sophisticated portfolio of the IoT industry’s most fundamental patents. The company has led the market in deploying its platform on a truly global scale, from the U.S. to India to South Africa. Prodea just recently acquired Silicon Valley-based Arrayent, the leading consumer IoT platform chosen by global manufacturers of trusted mass-market brands. As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of software developers through all phases of the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Senior IoT Platform Engineer (Redwood City, CA)

We are seeking a senior software engineer to join our cloud team and help us build the next generation IoT platform. As a member of the cloud platform team, you will be responsible for leading the development and deployment of core platform features such as device connectivity and protocol support. You will have significant opportunity to influence the product roadmap, define the system architecture, and lead the implementation to build a scalable and reliable IoT platform.

What you will do:

  • Participate in design, development, and implementation of new features in our cloud platform
  • Work with product management and engineering to define requirements and create development plans
  • Create services with Scalability, high availability, and reliability in mind
  • Take ownership of multiple modules from development to deployment

What you need:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Java and related frameworks & tools
  • Hands on experience with Java network programming and strong networking fundamentals
  • Experience with building and deploying highly scalable cloud services using container technologies
  • Methodical with development and take pride in what you create.
  • Familiarity with Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Solid understanding of distributed system fundamentals and Linux internals

Bonus:

Software Engineer in Test (Redwood City, CA)

We are seeking a Software Engineer in Test to join our cloud platform team and build test automation to support Continuous Integration and other testing efforts. This is a one of a kind opportunity to work on the cutting edge of IoT Smart Home technologies with a company that has live customers and 100+ products from 20 mass-market brands in 80+ countries. What you will do:

  • Collaborate with the development team to understand the partner ecosystem and be part of the design review process for new EcoAdapters to connect to clouds such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, IFTTT and others.
  • Participate in development of use cases and work quickly to understand the functionality of 3rd party APIs
  • Create test automation in Robot Framework, Mocha, Chai that will perform Unit and Acceptance Level testing that kicks off the development process (Test Driven Development).
  • Take ownership of the use cases that need to be tested and build the automation necessary to verify it.
  • Review 3rd party documentation (Partners, RFCs, etc) to make sure functionality is understood.

What you need:

  • Passion for testing and automation, who likes to work within small teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eager to apply your software expertise building test automation around EC2 and Lambda based microservices
  • Experience with Node.js and Python plus relevant tools to edit and debug.
  • Experience developing test automation frameworks and test plans.
  • 3+ years of experience as a software developer/engineer working with NodeJS, Java, Javascript, C++ or Python. Willing to accept one year experience for the right candidate
  • Methodical with development and take pride in what you create.
  • Timely deliver high quality code and willing to figure things out.
  • Innate sense of curiosity and willingness to investigate issues.
  • Familiar with Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Solid understanding of OS fundamentals and Linux internals.
  • Have used Git (Bitbucket, Gitlab, or GitHub) for source control, in the past.
  • Understand RESTful API design concepts, CRUD, JSON formatting.

Bonus:

  • Hands on Experience with Cassandra, Redis, Docker, Postman, or Kafka / Zookeeper
  • 5+ years of software development and test experience.
  • Startup & Agile development experience.
  • Love Slack and using Bots to automate tasks.
