With the holidays just around the corner, connected products are high on many consumer wishlists. What IoT connected products are on your holiday wishlist? At Prodea, we thought we would share a few connected products that are on our own wishlists to both give and receive.

Anousheh Ansari
is wishing for an Oura Ring this holiday season. Anousheh is always on the go and with the amount of traveling she undergoes, sleep is one of her biggest challenges. The average person may spend more than 26 years of their life sleeping but when you sleep, your body and mind regenerate from the stress of the day. Restorative sleep helps people stay healthier. “I hope the Oura Ring will help me regulate and sustain my sleep patterns with all the traveling I do.”

Andrew Tauhert
is hoping to receive the gift of a Ring Floodlight Cam. Currently, Andrew has a Ring Doorbell and has found it very useful. Having a security system for the backyard would make his wishlist complete. The motion-activated security camera with built-in floodlights also has a siren alarm and two-way audio, so you can see, hear and speak to anyone on your property from anywhere. “I really like that the Ring Floodlight Cam’s advanced motion detection offers activity zones, scheduling and prompt related alerts.”

Joe Huber
has two connected products on his wish list this year, the Apple Watch Series 4 and the new Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller. With the ECG app, Apple Watch Series 4 is capable of generating an ECG similar to a single-lead electrocardiogram that can provide critical data for doctors and peace of mind. Joe is really into health tech and Apple’s Watch would fit nicely into his ecosystem of connected health products. He currently owns a Withings Scale and a QardioArm BP monitor. “These two products make it easy for me to not only take measurements but also record them, see trends and share them with my family and doctor.” From his personal experience, Joe feels these would make excellent gifts to those you love. Joe is also keen on water conservation. The Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controllers make it easy to create custom schedules that automatically adjust for changing local weather. The ability to monitor it all from his smartphone put this product on Joe’s 2018 wishlist.

Suzanne Ricca
loves to garden and grow her own veggies and herbs. The AeroGarden Farm  smart hydroponic garden is on her wishlist this year. The Farm puts you in full control of your garden each step along the way from setup to harvest using either the convenient touch screen control panel on the garden hood, or the AeroGarden smartphone app compatible with the Farm’s built in Wi-Fi technology. Reminders and hydroponic gardening tips are all right at your fingertips. “I’ve always had a large backyard with a veggie and flower garden. I currently live in a condo and really miss gardening. Watching and nurturing a garden is not only one of my favorite things to do, but it is also very relaxing after a long day.”

Franck Munch
has Google’s Pixel 3 at the top of his list. The Pixel 3 is everything Franck wishes his current phone could do. Not only does it have a brilliant camera, it also takes great selfies using the Google Lens. The all-day battery, fast charging and a personal Google Assistant are three big features that are high on Franck’s smartphone needs. “My current phone is crapping out…this is not just a want, it is a need.”

Andre Lewis
is going BIG with putting a reservation for the 2020 Tesla Roadster in Cherry Red on his wishlist. The Tesla Roadster goes 0-60 in 1.0 seconds at a top speed of 250mph and a range of 620 miles. It is the quickest car in the world! Behind the wheel of this dream car, Andre would be giggling with pure joy. Andre’s practical reason for this car, “At 250mph, my commute time would be less than 10 minutes…that is if I could find some open road.”

Tyson King
has put the Colgate Smart Electronic Toothbrush E1 at the top of his entire family’s wishlist…one for everyone! The Colgate Smart Electronic Toothbrush E1 offers Artificial Intelligence technology built into the handle that works with an app on your iPhone or iPad to help you manage your oral health more effectively. Designed with the help of dentists, the brush also features sonic vibrating technology to thoroughly clean and protect your smile. The advanced combination of sensors detects the exact position and orientation of the brush—in real time across 16 brushing zones. Your brushing data is stored in the handle and is automatically uploaded to the Colgate app on your iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. Then over time the learning algorithm develops recommendations based on your individual brushing patterns and shares them with you via the app to improve your brushing performance. When asked why Tyson wanted this for his kids, he replied, “I won’t have to smell my kids breathe to tell IF they brushed their teeth in the morning and at night.”

Peter Radsliff
currently owns the obvious connected home products (e.g. thermostat, lighting, sprinkler system). On this year’s wishlist is the Pentair Premium Smart Battery Backup Sump Pump System (FG-3100RF) as an addition to his home’s infrastructure. When asked why a sump pump was on his list, Peter replied, “My sub-basement furnace/heat pump gives off water as a function of when it is used, I need a sump pump to ensure the space does not get flooded. The water table in my neighborhood is high, and this also contributes to mild flooding in my sub-basement. So, an internet-connected sump pump that has a battery backup would give me peace of mind that my house will not be flooded, even if the power goes out. Plus, I can get notification or check system status anytime, from anywhere. Boring for a Christmas gift? Maybe. But the peace of mind would be priceless.” Hopefully it will be wrapped as a gift with his name on it this holiday.

Kathy Lam has 3 items on her wishlist this holiday season. At the top of her list is the Orbit 57946 B-hyve Smart Indoor/Outdoor 6-Station WiFi Sprinkler System Controller. When asked why, Kathy said, “To make sure I don’t kill my plants or grass and save water at the same time!” However, if she were to splurge, what she really wants is the Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller, which is also on Joe’s wishlist. Secondly, Kathy is hoping for the ecobee3 lite Smart Thermostat along with the ecobee Room Sensors. “If we had this system, it would keep us toasty in parts of the house during the winter and cool in the summer as well as conserving energy when we are not home.” And finally, who would not want a little help keeping their home clean? “Realistically, this is way too expensive to actually have when I have perfectly fine vacuum cleaner, but the iRobot Roomba i7+WiFi Connected Robot Vacuum with automatic dirt disposal, would be awesome!” With this connected vacuum, you don’t have to think about vacuuming for weeks at a time.

Sundeep Ahluwalia
would love an outdoor decorative lighting system that he can control remotely and Lumenplay makes this his perfect holiday gift. Lumenplay is an extendable string of app-enabled RGB LED lights that enables you to create scenes of color and motion, all from your smart device. The free Lumenplay® app can setup a personalized light show by choosing color combinations, effects, speed, direction and brightness. “This would be fun for any holiday throughout the year as well as parties!” The energy-efficient light strings use Bluetooth SMART technology and can be used indoors or out.

We here at Prodea hope that everyone has the happiest of holidays. May they sparkle with moments of love, laughter, goodwill and a special gift for everyone.
