Mobile World Congress 2018 was packed with plenty of interest in the smartphone market, as well as smart home, IoT, 5G, and more. More than 107,000 visitors from 205 countries and territories attended the 2018 Mobile World Congress. Over 55 percent of this year’s attendees held senior-level positions, including more than 7,700 CEOs, up from more than 6,100 CEOs in 2017. Approximately 24 per cent of attendees were female, an increase from 23 percent at MWC 2017; additionally, 28 percent of speakers in the conference program were female, compared with 21 per cent in 2017. More than 2,400 companies showcased cutting-edge products and services.

Prodea launched our partnership with global networking equipment leader Coriant and introduced the Prodea  IoT Service X-Change™, our carrier-grade IoT Services Platform with ready-to-deploy IoT solutions that deliver real value to service providers and network operators as well as for their clients. Prodea and Coriant personnel showcased Prodea’s turnkey eHealth solution to show attendees. This example showed how the IoT Service X-Change can address service provider integration needs while enabling the addition of follow-on services quickly and efficiently — which is vital to achieve rapid monetization of new revenue streams across vertical markets. Coriant and Prodea showed network operators and service providers how the IoT Service Exchange is disrupting the Internet of Things by unleashing an Internet of Services. “There has been so much negative press recently about how technology is stealing people’s jobs. It’s encouraging to see so many examples at this year’s Mobile World Congress of how tech SERVICES will be improving lives through better healthcare, inclusion of the digitally-disconnected, and raising the standard of living for those in the developing world.” — Tyson King, VP Sales, Prodea Services, Inc.

In addition, Coriant expanded its 5G customer offerings. Building upon the Multi-Sided Platform Partner Program, Coriant featured an integrated, software-defined, 5G offering in collaboration with Affirmed Networks. The use of 5G is not just for connectivity and telecoms, but bringing together innovative capabilities from every industry. 5G has been branded the necessity to the success of the latest innovations in the Internet of Things (IoT) world. The number of devices is inevitably increasing, thus the capacity that can carry and hold the data from one to another.

“While 5G and NB-IoT dominate the messaging at Mobile World Congress, all eyes are on the IoT services and deployments that can be unleashed using 5G networks. Having committed to 5G, the services and solutions enablement is what every operator is asking about.” — Anousheh Ansari, CEO, Prodea Systems, Inc.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Coriant for hosting Prodea in their exhibit stand. Our onsite Prodea Team had a great time being part of  Coriant’s exhibit and interacting with customers. And finally, a big “thank you” goes out to GSMA for hosting Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It was an excellent show!
